I have a spyware program that keeps popping up about every two-three minutes. It is Windows Security Center (virus Protect). How do I stop receiving this? It is so annoying that I don’t even want to use my computer.

Virus protection is not the same as spyware protection.
Your "Windows Security Center" may be alerting you that you are UN-protected against virus threats.
While you DO need an anti-SPYWARE program, you ALSO need anti-VIRUS protection; you ALSO need a FIREWALL and or/a SANDBOX, and a TROJAN SCANNER/TROJAN REMOVER, and even a ROOTKIT SCANNER/REMOVER.
Not to be an alarmist, but the ONLY "safe" computer is one with no outside connection!
Two of the best anti-spyware programs are free: Ad-Aware and SuperAntiSpyware.
One of the best anti-virus programs is also free: AVG free
Download the program AVG For Free, you can get it off download.com or just search for it on google. Then install it and let it do it’s update. Then do a scan on your computer.
download this:http://www.filehippo.com/download_superantispyware/
one of the best FREE spyware removers it takes kinda long but gets rid of everything even viruses
Download Spybot Search and Destroy and run a scan of your computer. It’s free and works very well.
Remember to update it every week or so.
I have Spy Doctor; it clears it all out
for bst results to include the Running free version of ad aware, first go to http://www.pandasecurity.com/activescan/index/?track=1&Lang=en-US&IdPais=63
for free online scan with Panda security. After removel of what you can, download free version of Ad aware from Lava soft http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php
run this daily.
Also go to Yahoo toolbar and download anti spyware and again run daily.

Stay away from SPYBOT. also go into windows security center and turn off windows spyware
Good luck
and God bless
I had to go to spyhunter 3’s website and buy their software to get rid of that stupid windows crap….. Although I imagine any spyware software would do the trick…….

Regular ones
McAfree
Norton
Go to Fry’s Electronics and purchase Norton Ant-virus 2009 edition, download it and follow directions,
I have it and My PC warns me about attempts to attack my computer and removes the adware and spyware all the time , recently, Two trojan horse viruses attempted to attack my computer when I dowloaded from Lime wire, But Norton caught them.

I always used Ad-aware, it works great for me! Good Luck!
Whichever antispyware program you end up using make sure it can scan your registry and DLL files. Thats where the pop up’s are coming from. They make alterations to your registry folder which in turn creates these random pop ups.
McAfee Total Protection….
With (Ad-aware SE personal) from lavasoft http://toggle.com/lv/group/view/kl25986/Ad-Aware_SE_Personal.htm it smart scans in approximately 4 minutes and you can delete anything critical that it finds and quarantines, works great, highly recommended above all others, and it’s free, my teacher from (computer repair class) in school introduced me to it. You can try (spy-bot search and destroy too) I used it for a long time but finally uninstalled it because it takes too long, (about) 20 minutes of so, but it is good and really compatible with (ad-aware SE personal). http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html
you may have to go to control panel and and remove it and reinstall it. By the way AVG Free is discontinued. I had to buy Norton. But as far as the other if it is something you have installed you may have to uninstall it. hope this helps…GB
I once attempted to remove spyware on my own,
and was never was able to get it all off.
Hope this link helps.

Hi, Gatita,
I found that Webroot by Symantec works great. It’s about $29.99 a year, It doesn’t take that long to run and it does automatic updates. I have used them for three years now.
If you could give a little more detail of exactly what the message(s) say on the screen, I can probably give you a more exact answer. However as a general catch all answer I will suggest …
That what you have or what is displaying is not a virus. It is one of Microsoft’s Updates. If it is simply telling you that it needs to install, there is a box that allows you to ignore the download and update. (this should show up when you select the balloon that is informing you about the update.)
On the other hand if the updates are already installed and telling you that you actually have a virus, malware or whatever on your system obviously you need to get rid of the offending software (blatantly obvious I know). If the windows security center is not removing the virus/adware/whatever after following it’s instructions try the following.
If you have antivirus software on your system I would suggest doing a manual update and then doing a full system scan.
I would also suggest using TrendMicro’s Free Online Virus Scan & repair one time computer scan software found at:
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
it’s a little slow to download and run but it is usually effective at getting rid of problems or telling you what to do if some special settings or actions need to be made on your system in order to remove the virus.
If your antivirus software has expired or is nonoperational I would suggest uninstalling the nonfunctional antivirus software and installing GriSoft’s AVG free home user antivirus software. Some people do not like this antivirus software but I have been using it as well as putting it on home users computers for years and it has been very effective (especially for the price). This can be found at GriSoft Free download and updates to home users:

Hi! haha,, Christian ka pala.. GUd for you.. but wait.. Are you a filipino? Pilipino ka ba? haha.. anyway, if not, then of course i’ll speak in english.. ^^
ANyway, about your problem, i’ve read a lot of answers here and its too long process for you to solve ths problem. But i am only recommending you an effective software i am currently using in my pc for removing such kind of spywares.. it is MALWAREBYTES ANTI-MALWARE, it is a software thar removes SPYWARES- mostly coming from internet pop ups, ADWARE-from the word ‘ad’, meaning, it is maybe a software or still in the internet spyware that advertises you fake softwares.. and finally, MALWARE- i think, those are softwares that are not installed in your pc but it will force to be installed in your pc and hard to remove(of course). Hmm, you don’nt need those ANTI VIRUS because its not their specialty or feature to remove.. YES, there are some, but of course, you need the specific software that removes Spywares.. anyway hope you understand.. I’m just recommending i think that is effective in removing.. of course, why would i suggest softwares that are not effective ryt? anyway, it’s for you to find out! ^^
Anyway, if you have questions, just let me know. .tthanks for reading.. God Bless you!.. ^^
