1. The industry has been moving in a cycle over the years, from mainframes in the beginning, to PCs, to servers, to terminal servers and now server virtualisation (the last two being a new form of the original mainframe).
2. When TCO (total cost of ownership) is taken into account, the overall investment in systems, personel and resources are drastically reduced when you compare a multi-server system to a multi_VM (virtual machine) system.
