In order to get the iphone you pay for unlimited data and a amount of texts, that’s the only way the iphone will be sold if it was bought from a retailer.
well, i have similar problem when first time using iphone.
and in first week i already achieve my monthly limit phone bill because of data usage. lol.
safari can be use for wifi and 3G so be carefull.
1. make sure you have data plan for back up (just a little such as 20mb /month) it wont cost you more than $1 a month.
if you using wifi in your home
-check it through laptop or else your wifi connection is connected to internet or just local, when you sure that wifi connect to internet so you can use your wifi in iphone without hassle
ps:because iphone could not tell you if the wifi has internet connection or just local network, so when you connect through internet using iphone it will use your data network because the wifi not connect to internet.
if you using wifi in public area.
-make sure you change the setting to unable the 3G (just in case something happen it wont cost you much or as indicator if your internet go too slow maybe it using your data).
but if you paranoid you can also use this trick to make sure your wifi internet connected.
- just eject your simcard a little (not fully eject, only push the ejector so the simcard coould not connect)
if you still can access internet it means the wifi connect to internet and push the simcard back.
but this means you should always bring the ejector in your wallet =)
The best way to make sure you are on Wi-Fi is to look at the top of your iPhone screen. if you see an icon that looks like a fan, you are on wi-fi. If it reads 3G, E, or has a dot, you are on cellular data connection and could be charged more.
