Can an xbox 360 controller be a gamepad if it is plugged in with charge and play?

I have an xbox 360 controller that is wireless and I got Left 4 Dead 2 for the computer, I have tried to use my xbox 360 wireless controller to work with it via charge n play cord, but it doesn’t work. Is there a way to make this work, or will I have to buy a normal xbox 360 controller?

You will need to buy a wired controller if you want to use a 360 controller. There is adapters that you can get that you plug into the computer which will make your wireless controller work but they stopped making them. If you want one you can try ebay.
