How much total hard drive space will I need to install Windows 7 Ultimate and general use programs?

I’m looking to buy a Solid State (Flash) Hard Drive to boot Windows 7 Ultimate (when it launches) and programs, so that my boot time and application loading times will improve. All my multimedia will be stored on larger conventional hard drives. I need to know the bare minimum space I will need so that I can get the smallest SSD possible, so that I can save some cash. Thanks.

It takes around 5-7gb at start, and soon the winsxs folder starts ballooning, so you’d atleast need a 15 gb, but to be on the safe side, I’d recommend going for 20gb, but dont they ship ssd’s in 32 gb patterns?
So I think you’d need a 32 gb SSD for full future proofing.
You need a minimum of 20GB of hard drive space… so you can get any size hard drive you want and have room to spare.
If your concerned about space just get a 500GB hard drive. It’s not too exspensive. I got a 1TB hard drive for less than $90.
You can get a 500GB hard drive for $55.
I have a Vista Home Premium operating system plus the software that was installed at the factory when the computer was new, and I’ve got everything on a 16 GB flash drive with room to spare. The operating system takes about 10 GB of space. I believe that Windows 7 may require even less space
( depending on the version chosen ).
