How can I change the background color of desktop icons in Windows 7?
My boyfriend installed Windows 7 on his PC today, and he can’t see the text in his desktop icons very well. We want to know how to change the background color to solid black instead of the current transparent, like we can in XP.
Thanks for any help. ![]()
In response to "right-click the desktop and click personalize", we have done this and still not found an option to change the background color of desktop icon text.

Right click anywhere on the desktop and click "Personalize". From here you can make the changes you need to.

it is in the settings
Alright the "right-click the desktop and click personalize" is where you start off. Now the window that pops up will have four options of things to configure : Desktop Background, Windows Color, Sounds, and Screen saver. Click on Windows Color, form here more options will pop up. In the middle of this page there will be an option to click on(it will say"Open Classic Appearance Properties for more options"). From the window that pops up, you will be able to configure the color.
Good luck
