Can I return my Macbook Pro for the new one that just came out?
I’m a little pissed today… I saw that Apple released their new wave of Macbooks and Macbook Pros and I just bought a Macbook Pro a month and a half ago. I totally understand the whole "that’s the way consumer technology works" argument and that I probably should have done some research to see Apple’s plans for the next generation of their Macbooks (if there’s a way to check that type of stuff).
So my question is, since I’ve had my MacBook for such a short amount of time, do I have an option to switch it out for the new one or is this "the way consumer technology works" and I’m screwed?
I bought it from an Apple retail store and also got the protection/warranty plan

Your not really screwed because you still have an awesome computer but no you cant return it because apple has a 14 day return policy where you would have to pay 10% of the purchase price of your laptop for return and then pay the difference.
The way you could check is to pay attention to Macrumors and appleinsider and Engadget. They dont have specific dates on when apple will release new things. They are very sneaky this way and is a factor on why they have so many rumor sites and fanboys.
same thing happend to me but with an ipod . i took it back to best buy and told them it wasn’t working so luckly i had a replacement warranty so i gave them the ipod and now i got me a touch. so it kinda depends where you got it . and most places only have a 30 day thing sometimes 90 days i’d check online at where you bought it . good luck hope i helpd
I don’t think you can. It doesn’t hurt to ask them tho.
If I were in your shoes I would make do with what I have.
Hi Rick Deckard,
It wouldn’t hurt you to take it with you to the Apple store and ask them what they can do for you. You may not like the answer, but the good news is that you’ve got a great MacBook Pro and have been enjoying it for the past month and a half.
Yes, it is the nature of technology, but the good news is that you’re using tried and true technology and not some new hardware that may have some problems. And, yet, you’ve got a very new MacBook Pro that won’t be obsolete for many years to come. That’s the good news about Macs. There are people who still happily use pre-Mac OS X hardware and enjoy it.
Enjoy your new MBP and don’t feel bad about not getting into the bleeding edge hardware. Best of luck.
