Does Windows 7 professional have different requirements from Home Premium?

I want to switch to windows 7.
I am a student and windows is giving out a special discount.
for Windows 7.
I just wanted to know if Professional has different requirements than Home Premium, because Microsoft is offering both for the same price?

depends on whether its 32 bit or 64 bit.
If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here’s what it takes:
1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
*
1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
*
16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
*
DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
The hardware requirements are the same.
Professional simply adds a couple more features like the ability to join a domain or to use the "XP Mode" add on that can be downloaded.
For most consumers, the extra features of Professional won’t be useful. The main reason they offer it to students is because some do need to be able to join a domain at their schools.
If they’re the same price, you won’t lose anything by doing Professional. You just might not have any use for what it adds.
