Iphone – If I have a wifi connection, will the cell phone company charge me for data?

My brother has an ipod touch. If you put in a wifi code, you can go on the internet free of charge.
So now: if I get an iphone and put my AT&T gophone card in (which I looked up on youtube, you can do it) will it charge me for data if I put in a wifi code, or will it act just like an ipod touch and not charge me??

Actually, you can’t use a Go phone sim card and yes, AT&T will add the data plan to your account.
