Hi Tanner,
There’s no way to downgrade in-place from Windows 7 to Windows XP, as they are based on completely different architecture. You will need to backup your data, format your hard drive, install XP, and replace your data. It will work because you are starting fresh, the two operating systems are completely independent of one another.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

it is not possible
in windows you can upgrade but u can not downgrade !!! take back of your all data then re-install vista or xp.. from bootable but it will completly wipe out all data…. all take backup first !
if you can not install it from bootable then you will need to format and then install xp or vista… but again take backup cos’ whatever method you use , you will lose your data
Tanner,
You can install the earlier version of Windows- which will effectively reformat: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Can-I-uninstall-Windows-7.
