New customized pc … Are these components going to be compatible?
First off, I would like to let you know, that I got this PC in the mail today and hooked all of the input/output devices like the mouse and monitor, and plugged it up…. Well, then after 10 minutes of being powered on I believe the PSU blew out. IT shut off and could not get it back on. Also , I was adjusting the power plug to the psu at the exact moment when this happened. I heard like a pop, and did smell a lil burning electrical smell. It was a 480 watt PSU… Which ibuypower has said that is more than suffiecent enough to power my computer, and suggested I not upgrade it, and just let them send me another one. I have a feeling that if that power supply burned out that fast, then this may happen again. IF not the same day , somewhere in the near future. Unless it was just faulty to begin with. But anyhow, I want to make sure that all of these components are compatible. I have a Quad Core Processor on a Phenom X2 and was beginning to think if that was not a good idea. Somebody who is really knowledgable on this topic, your answer would be greatly appreciated. Also, the PSU should be here tomorrow and I want to make sure I hook everything up the way it is. I know pretty much what needs to be powered. I just want to make sure that everything is hooked up properly and maybe a good site would help with that. Here is the system…. please let me know.

ok, well. I reviewed a video about installing a PSU. So it is pretty much as I suspected.
yea, thank you… I did actually get the 64 bit Windows VIsta Home. From Ibuypower. After reading other posts and talking to other people, I was able to determine that would be the best OS for my computer. I am just a lil concerned mainly with the PSU blowing out on the first 10 minutes of the computer being powered on.

If you look up that motherboard at newegg.com, you will see that it’s compatible with an AM2 or AM2+ cpu, so that processor is fine.
The memory for that motherboard would need to be DDR2 800 with an AM processor, and DDR 1066 with an AM2 processor. (So the memory you’ve picked out is correct for that motherboard and that AM2 processor.)
With those three things working together, everything else is fine. (And your motherboard supports 6 SATA connections, so you’re good there too.
Keep in mind though, if you put the full 8GB of RAM (4×2GB RAM modules) that that motherboard can handle into it, you’re going to need a 64bit operating system to fully utilize all of it. (32bit systems will only show and/or use 3-3.5 GB or RAM. It’s all they were built to take.)
well the first time your rig went out there could have been many reasons and your right faulty power supply but 420 watts should be plenty of watts for your setup but NEVER ADJUST YOUR POWER CORD WHILE PLUG IN THE OUTLET CAN SEND SPARKS FLYING OR RISK OF INJURY.
it could have been a loose 24volt power plug on your motherboard or a 6pin could have pin your reset pin or maybe your fan on your heatsink was not spinning? sata cables you gotta check all these options but your gonna find out reinstalling your power supply and becareful removing your powersupply make sure you unplug your desktop and use a anti-static wristband or touch the computer case chassis.you could have blown out a good psu.
