what are the disavantages of unlocking and jailbreaking your iphone ?

i dont know whether to unlock my iphone and jailbreak it and take it with me when i move or just sell it now in original condition ,, id like to unlock & jailbreak it , but i heard there are some disavantages ? like you cant update stuff ?
could anyone fill me in with the details ?

yes you can update. but a future update might lock your phone again,in which case,you’d need to jailbreak again.unlocking a phone would take apple’s control off the device, which has an obvious disadvantage that you now are free to install 3rd party apps from untrusted vendors and your phone’s filesystem can now be read\altered by these. some apps might be harmful ahd damage your phone.some apps might keep sending texts autimatically without your knowledge and make you pay huge bills. if you jailbreak, you get full cintrol of the device os. you get the power to install what you like and from where you like. but you trade a bit of security. an untrusted app might wreck havock on your device.
