I have a Gateway M-1617 laptop and i wanted to upgrade the RAM from 2 gigs to 4 gigs (which is what it claims it is upgradable to). but from what ive read, for the computer to actually be able to utilize the 4 gigs of RAM i would have to install a 64 bit version of windows. I was wondering if my computer would really be able to handle the 64 bit windows. My processor is a 1.90 GHz AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-58. I have a 250 gig hard drive and did replace one stick of the 1gig DDR2 667 RAM with a 2 Gig stick, but its only utilizing about 2.5 gigs of the 3 gigs installed. I just want to upgrade my computer so that it can keep up with todays technology with out having to buy a new laptop, but i dont want to over clock the processor or make it over heat or anything.
