I’m pretty sure I have some spyware on my mac because I will randomly hear an advertisement when nothing is open. Is there any website where I can find free spyware removal for mac THAT IS LEGIT?
I’ve tried looking through other questions and I see that there are a lot of spammers posting links to "spyware removal" for PC even though the question is about a Mac.
Thank you.

converter123.comYou can use SpywareNoMore. It is so valuable.
As we all know Computer hackers seeking financial gain rather than thrills or notoriety are increasingly flooding the Internet with malicious software code (spyware, adware, key loggers, trojans). They are infecting computers with highly sophisticated programs that record surfing habits, bank passwords and other key financial data and send them to crooks over the Internet. These programs can be hard to spot, disguised in downloads such as toolbars, search engines, browser accessories, screen savers and other seemingly helpful utilities.
SpyNoMore anti-spyware safeguards your identity and restores system performance through fast, smart and powerful spyware protection.

Technically this is a virus scanner, but it should be able to help you.
i think you can go to download.com and search for what you need.
there are lots of them listed there
or you can go to wikipeida and find more info.about what you need
ClamXav does not find and remove spyware. Try the 30-day free trial of MacScan that finds and removes spyware, keyloggers, trojans, etc. Link below.
About semantics: "virus" is a particular type of computer application. It is true that there have been only three or four viruses to appear in the past twenty years that can attack the Mac system. There have been several trojans in the past decade and always a few spyware things hanging about. Before you are sure you have malicious software hiding out, look in System Preferences > Accounts > your account > Login Items. Anything suspicous there? You can remove it yourself.
You are infected with spyware if:
* You see too much pop-up advertisements.
* Your browser has toolbars that you haven’t installed.
* Your homepage has changed (and you can’t change it back).
* Other settings have changed without your permission.
* Your computer is slow.
To get rid of spyware and keep your computer clean you can use an antispyware or even more.
