im thinkin of buying an iphone to put on verizon and i do not have mobile internet. will it still work? and any version of the iphone most likely not the 3gs

I’m planning on getting an iPad from America, since it is way cheaper. However, I’ve been wondering: can I use my European iTunes acount with European iTunes gift cards on the American iPad, or is there something preventing this?
