storage needed for home theater pc / server?
I am looking to build a new desktop computer (waiting now because of the Thailand floods) and was wondering what kind of storage is going to be needed with a TV tuner card. The reason for the tuner card is that i do not want to pay for an extra box and the DVR plan from my service provider. I want to be able to record the shows i want and then be able to access them from anywhere.
It system will also be used as a backup and ftp server for use of those people in my household. I also do virtual machines when trying out new software or creating a program for different OSes
the backups for my laptop and my dying desktop already about 500GB
im planning on:
the ceton infiniTV 4 or a lower priced tv tuner — i can deal with not recording HBO and other cable channels if needed
mid to high range AMD or Nvidia graphics card preferably sli or crossfireX capable
40 – 64 GB SSD for the OS
8 – 16 gb of ram (probably going to do 16 for virtualization and gaming)
originally i was thinking of doing 2 drives either 2TB or 3TB for all the storage but i dont know if i should do go with 3 drives considering ceton recommends 350GB for 50 hrs and i dont know how often i will be able to keep up with the shows because of school (college student)
Why is the battery on my galaxy tab 10.1 daining so fast?
ive only had it for about a day, but the battery is draining EXTREMELY FAST! its supposedmto rated at like 9 hours but im getting like 3 1/2 hours maybe… I started using it this morning when it was fully charged and an hour later it only had 57% battery left. In the battery usage menu it says the sceen is using 80% of the battery. The brightness has been all the way down the whole time and it still drains the battery really fast. I dont know whats going on, please help!
This is the 32gb wifi only model. The 10.1 inch
Thanks in advance!
The SCREEN is what is using up the battery so fast, i know that, what i dont know is how to fix it. The grightness has been all the way down since i got the device yet it is still somehow using 80% of my battey
Is it worth it to buy Toshiba Thrive?
Hello, I am looking to buy a new tablet. Currently i have my mind set on Thrive 16GB because its has many ports like connecting to TV, better cameras and can increase the hard drive with sd ports. Well i was between Galaxy Tab and Thrive but when looked into it, it looked like to me Thrive was a better product. I am planning to use it in college for basically all sorts of things like notes, etc. Is Thrive alright or do i need to look at any other product. Please dont tell me ipad because the reason i dont like it is that they are updated every year and it is outdated literally every year.
Thanks
Should i get the apple Ipad with 3g or the macbook air?
The ipad is cheaper and does the samething and has touch screen
BUT the macbook air looks really nice and fancy, but it takes me like a month of hard work and effort to purchase it
….. but for business it can be use it is easy to carry and not as common as the ipad is
for Djing i can use both
i already have a good windows/linux machine and it has all the specs i need with 8gb ram and all the good stuff so i dont really need an optical drive on this or any of that "power spec" thing
i just want to Dj with it… take it to business conferences or other things that i do… and kinda show of
Internet im sure i can buy a 3g adapter or mifi thing so i dont worry about that….
so the deal is which one makes me look more pro…. doing my business and internet browsing say at starbucks…
do I look more pro with macbook air or Ipad… or another suggestion of another device that is also slim and made from aluminum
