then i cancel installation because thats the only way to go, then an error comes up saying:

Why is my new CPU not working?

Ive recently bought a new CPU to put into my motherboard. My motheroard isnt old, maybe a year at most, and I checked all specifications on wether this CPU was compatible with my motherboard. When I put in the new chip, I only get a beep code (2 beeps times 5) with a red LED light (simultaneous with the beeps). Ive only found that it means a processor error. When I put my old cpu back in, my PC works fine.

Ive only had people claim that it mihgt not be compatible, but nothing Ive seen either tells me what or has any sign of non compatibility. Is there an update I can do, or did I just blow 80 bucks on nothing?
I didnt ask for opinions on how old the hardware is. I asked why it wasnt working. Age should have little to do with it considering my PC and CPU are relatively the same age anyway. I dont have money to blow. Im 17 with no job currently, so money is an issue.
And this isnt a "life story". Its the specs for both CPUs, which is something that is needed when identifying a problem with a computer.
God, I asked a favor, not for everyone to be a smarta** on technology.
MOtherboard is a HP/Compaq dc7600 small form factor. Thats all I can tell about it :/ unless someone can give me a better way to find it other than Everest?
