Will my laptop be able to handle 64 bit windows?

I have a Gateway M-1617 laptop and i wanted to upgrade the RAM from 2 gigs to 4 gigs (which is what it claims it is upgradable to). but from what ive read, for the computer to actually be able to utilize the 4 gigs of RAM i would have to install a 64 bit version of windows. I was wondering if my computer would really be able to handle the 64 bit windows. My processor is a 1.90 GHz AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-58. I have a 250 gig hard drive and did replace one stick of the 1gig DDR2 667 RAM with a 2 Gig stick, but its only utilizing about 2.5 gigs of the 3 gigs installed. I just want to upgrade my computer so that it can keep up with todays technology with out having to buy a new laptop, but i dont want to over clock the processor or make it over heat or anything.

Intel pentium 4 processor 3.2ghz 800mhz fsb, 1mb l2 cache
512mb pc-3200 400mhz DDR (that’s the ram I think)

250gb 7200 hard drive

ati radeon 9200 graphics card

i bought this thing like 5 yrs ago, starting to show it’s age now do u think it could be pretty on par to today’s standards if I upgraded the ram and video card? Ram is expendable to 2gb I think

ALSO, HOW IS the 3.2 ghz pentium 4 processor compared to the core duo 2.4 on the new MacBook pros? I’m not sure which is better bc supposedly Core Duo is newer technology or something.

Paravirtualization Virtual PC?

Does paravirtualization directly uses Graphics Cards? Instead of emulating the VRAM from normal RAM?

Help installing RAM?

Ok, so I bought a new stick of RAM today, 1 gig. This is what I bought.

well I tried to stick it into the empty slot of my computer, but the latches on the side dont snap into place like its supposed to, and Im scared to push any harder.

My computer says it has 512MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM memory so Im pretty sure i bought the right type.

Do I just need to push it in harder? Or am i doing something wrong
