How do anti-virus and anti-spyware programs work? How do they detect and remove all the viruses, malicious software, and spyware on someone’s PC? What were the first decent anti-virus and anti-spyware software programs, and what year did they become available?

I am trying to install defender pro but because norton’s spyware doctor is still on my computer there are conflicts.
how do i uninstall all of my old spyware programs so i can change to defender pro.

I’d like to knowingly download spyware programs onto my computer. There isn’t any personal information on it, so i don’t care. I tried that website that spambot Man posted, but it didn’t seem to do anything. Can anyone give me a link to an actual spyware program so i can download it?
