I’m from Barbados, and I’m currently visiting New York City. I want to buy an Apple iPad, but I had heard somewhere that if I am not going to be using it in the US (I want to take it home with me to Barbados) that I could be exempt from paying taxes on it. This would be really great if it is possible.
Could it happen? I called the Apple Store on 5th Avenue last night, and the clerk said that she wasn’t sure. What do you know about this?
I don’t necessarily have to buy it from the Apple Store — Do any other stores like Best Buy or something do this as well? Would I be exempt from paying the tax if I am not living here?

So I’d like to get an Ipad eventually, probably next tax season (I turn in my taxes immediately and get them quick so we’re not talking a whole year). Anyway, I was wondering, have the prices on the Ipads gone down since they came out? Also when I was in Best Buy listening to them it seemed like the speakers weren’t loud enough. And I like my speakers LOUD. Maybe it was the fact I was in a store, not sure. Do the speakers seem loud enough or is it just me?

I just bought an iPad 2 and I’m so happy because I couldn’t initially afford the first iPad so I rewarded myself with my tax return. I really want to protect it because it seems more like an investment than just a toy. Is AppleCare worth it for the iPad or should I just be really careful with it?

I’m going to buy an iPad at an Apple Store in Oregon (no tax). my question is, if I buy one in store for 499$ will there be any other fee’s? I have a student card that cant purchase anything over 500$ so I dont want it to get declined, there is no sales tax in oregon. Thanks!
