I have a 500GB partition in my hard drive which I used with my old macbook pro. Now i got a new one, what is the best thing to do? Will my mac automatically start a new timemachine on the same drive?

I wont to avoid clutter. May not install all the software that were on my old macbook pro.

I’ve seen answers in a lot of places, but they vary drastically. How often should I shut down my MacBook? I usually just put it to sleep each night, and shut down once a week or so. Also, if I just put it to sleep, should I still keep it connected to a power source?

Lastly, is it detrimental to keep my MacBook plugged in most of the time?
