How can I Transfer from one Hard Drive to another…?
I plan to backup all the data and settings from my current 160GB disk and store it on my external 320GB hard drive.
Place 500GB as Master, remove 160GB hard drive.
If I install a clean copy of Windows XP on my 500GB disk (going to be partitioned).
Then ‘Restore’ all the backup data from the external 320GB disk to the 500GB hard drive.
> Basically Duplicate onto the 500GB SATA disk.
Will this work?
I want all my programs to continue working, if I do this – like Avast Pro, and Nero 6 – purchased software.
In the end;
The 500GB, will have all my settings and data.
The 160GB, will have original/clean XP for my family to use.
Note: Do NOT want to use multiple accounts feature or any other virtualization software.
What if I Export the Registry for a backup copy, then Import it onto the new XP copy.
I have found & can anyone recommend this piece of software:
Acronis MigrateEasy 7.0
What would be limited in the Trial version?
I went ahead and tried Acronis MigrateEasy 7.0 Trial (15 day).
I worked perfectly, it transferred all my data across in less than 30 minutes.
It automatically created the partitions on my 500GB hdd proportional to my 160GB.
I would certainly recommend it
