I’m looking for some good free virus scans/spyware detectors available online because my McAfee trial has run out on my new laptop. They can be either used online or downloadable. No scams please!

My Two-year-old MacBook Pro is flashing a grey folder with a white question mark over a grey background. I cannot get it to do anything else. How do I resolve this? Is it a virus?

On my windows live one care anti virus and firewall program it says turn on virus and spyware monitering – Urgent so i click turn on and nothing happens so i go to settings and click turn on, then click apply and it still does not turn on. Anyone know how i get it turned on?

Please don’t tell me to try restarting or anything stupid because i have tried it and nothing works.
