I bought a new laptop 2 weeks ago. It is an Acer Aspire 4730Z. I absolutely love it so far and it was only 9! But, I am worried about one thing…On Best Buy’s website, it has like 23 reviews. They are all great except for 1. The bad one is about the display and Acer’s warranty. My question is that the LCD is acting weird sometimes. It gets distorted and kind of strange and off color. It has done this a couple of times and then it goes back to being okay. I found this on Acer’s website:
"TFT displays commonly exhibit a small number of discolored dots, so-called “nonconforming pixels.” This phenomenon is a limitation of TFT LCD technology, not a product defect and, as such, is not covered by the limited warranty or by the upgrade programs."
Should I be concerned and do you think this is the problem with this computer? I am trying to decide if I should return it or just hope it is okay. For what I paid, I don’t think I could get anything comparable.
I need some advice ASAP because Best Buy has a 14 day return policy and today is 14 days. Is this something I will experience on any laptop with this kind of display?
Thanks for your help!!
Thanks for all the help. I know it was really inexpensive, so I should expect some issues, but overall I love it. I know I don’t want anything larger than 14.1 inches. I am going to exchange it for now and see how the new one acts!!!

I’m a little pissed today… I saw that Apple released their new wave of Macbooks and Macbook Pros and I just bought a Macbook Pro a month and a half ago. I totally understand the whole "that’s the way consumer technology works" argument and that I probably should have done some research to see Apple’s plans for the next generation of their Macbooks (if there’s a way to check that type of stuff).
So my question is, since I’ve had my MacBook for such a short amount of time, do I have an option to switch it out for the new one or is this "the way consumer technology works" and I’m screwed?
I bought it from an Apple retail store and also got the protection/warranty plan

These things are terrible. My 360 crashed about 5 months ago. They extended the warranty so I sent it in to get fixed and I just got it back and in the box there was a note saying I just got a new one to save time. So I was playing the new 360 last night and it crashed too!!! This is getting ridiculous. This is fourth xbox that has stopped working for me (this is including the original xbox). It would be nice if these things could work for more than two days!!
WindGod. I take exellent care of my stuff and keep it in tip-top condition.

My xbox 360 scratches my disks and occasionally freezes. I called Microsoft and told them this, but they said my warranty expired a year ago and I would have to pay for the repair. However, if you have a red circle of death, the warranty is covered for 3 years! So, I am trying to actually get the circle of death in order to have my console sent in and fixed.

My xbox 360 has a fried GPU and I need to buy another one. I want to buy the cheapest arcade version, but I’m wondering how long Microsoft’s warranty is on it as of today.
